Eyecare: Choose shades for your sight as well as your style

If you want to protect your eyesight and reduce the risk of cataracts and age-related macular degeneration (AMD – the biggest single cause of blindness in the UK) in the future, make sure the sunglasses you choose display the CE mark and BSEN 1836:1997 and offer UV400 protection, not least for children – half a lifetime's worth of UV rays are absorbed before the age of 18.
