Diets and healthy weight: Enjoy every mouthful

People who are overweight often gulp down food as quickly as possible to get that high from the serotonin that's released by eating, and don't notice the subtle signals from their stomachs that they are full. Also, in tests, when people can’t see what they eat, they consume about a quarter less than they would normally, because they’re concentrating on the taste. So savour as you chew and slow your eating speed down by three-quarters to notice the feeling of being full. Don't eat another mouthful until your mouth is already empty. It makes binge eating almost impossible and, digestion improves, because the enzymes that enable you to break down food are more intense in saliva than in the stomach.
