Condition and shine: Don't skimp on conditioner if you want shiny hair

If your hair is fine or prone to oiliness, many beauty experts recommend using conditioner just on the ends of hair, which are driest. This is working on the assumption that conditioner makes the top layers of hair look flat. But the truth is, so long as it is thoroughly rinsed out, it should do no more than smooth hair. Tangles come from cuticles remaining rough and interlocking with each other. As a result hair looks duller than if conditioner had been applied all the way through - smooth cuticles enable hair to reflect shine). So distribute conditioner throughout if you want your hair to look as shiny as possible.
