Condition and shine: Keep colour crisper

Conditioner works by coating hair – as does colour, apart from permanent products which penetrate the hair. So if you're colouring your crowning glory at home with anything other than a permanent preparation don't use conditioner beforehand, as it could impede the formulation's effectiveness, says colourist Sandra Riach at John Frieda.
